WHAT WE DO

We believe in the advancement of all girls and female caregivers and seek to invest our time and resources to the optimal development of our vision, concentrating our resources on female child development, executive and marketplace growth for women, and support for women who need re-tooling and re-engineering for better parenting, partnering and progression in all areas of life.

The CJV Foundation places value on healing of inequities specifically directed at women and girls. We believe in supporting and building upon the mindsets, methods and modes of change that hold promise to advance women’s best interests.

The Foundation seeks to advance all women, but in particular those women and girls that are vulnerable and forgotten and those who need assistance in growth, education and greater development.

To achieve this, we organize our work and investments toward three strategic outreaches:

The Pink Academy: Increase the number of girls (ages 8-16) who are reading-and-math proficient and give them tools to know how to manage in the marketplace, or to start their own businesses.

Pink Ball is a grand event for women and girls, recruiting daughters with their fathers, to be presented to their communities for the purpose of mentoring and life development at the beginning of the Pink Academy. The Pink Ball attracts more than 500 applicants each year.

Women Who Soar: Promotes expansion and healing while addressing structural and systemic sexism often through lack of economic opportunities and exposure. We seek to inform and change hearts, minds and the deeply-held, often unconscious biases that are frequently at the core of structural bias against women by women and women by men. By giving women the tools to build, brand and develop sustainability, we eliminate sexism and racial footholds within our communities and institutions.

"The most memorable
lesson learned was to use your money wisely. The
conference made a difference in my life by showing
me that I am important to the church."

Favorites: Minister John Gray and the acting workshop

Darnell Alphonso Jones (Maryland) -"The sessions where we
talked about prayer sticks out the most.  My favorite workshop
was acting and I enjoyed the 'Journey' play.  The conference
really changed my prayer life."
Favorites: Minister John Gray
Christian Jefferson (Detroit)
-"What sticks out the most is
Bishop telling us 'We Can
Fly.'   The conference
changed my life.

"The most
memorable lesson was Bishop saying
that she believed we could fly. The
conference made a difference in my life
in such a way that it is inexplainable."

Favorites -  John Gray and his play
"Journey" - He was so REAL.  Peace

"Although I had made a promise
that I would save myself for
marriage, the sex talk with Pam
Stenzel really opened my eyes
even more and showed me how it
really IS important.  I enjoyed the
various workshops in dancing,
step, choir and the night services."

Favorites: The parade, The
Journey Play and the Choir

"The most
memorable lesson was when Bishop
Vaughn told me that when I am hurt
by someone and another person tries
to step in my life, I should open my
heart and let God do his WONDERS! I
enjoyed Morning Glory the most
because I had a chance to get closer
to God. The conference made a
difference because now I read my
bible and pray every day and have a
different attitude. I don't speak in
tongues, but I am working on it."

Favorites: Bishop Vaughn, Pam
Stenzel and John Gray.

"The
first session about sex was the most
memorable one because I really
learned a lot. It was my favorite.  I
have a different mindset about my
life as a result of the Youth
Conference. I mostly enjoyed
meeting new people and spending
time with my church members.

Favorites: Pam Stenzel - "Sex Has
It's Price"
